Music the life blood of Itunes, Ipods, Music Videos, Radio.

Music is a big factor that makes money for

Radio Stations
MP3 players
Radio
TV shows
Advertising Agencies
Microphone Companies
Software Companies eg. protools, waves , apple etc
Churches
Dance Clubs
Rave Parties
Concerts
Instrument Makers

Without music and fans of music, there wouldn't be a need for a mp3 player. We wouldn't have music to enhance our favourite blockbuster movies. We would have music radio stations.

If music can make money for so many companies, why is it that Artist, Musicians, Record Producers etc get so little?

Music is the equivalent of a raw product. It's worth very little, but is the foundation that supports commerce and big multinational companies. Just look how much IPOD makes for apple!!!

Musicians/Artist are like our Farmers. They invest much resources into their crops and get very little back from it. The Giant grocery supermarket chains on the otherhand are exploiting Farmers by dictating lower prices for higher quality.

In the 21 century with the accessibility of recording gear and Digital Audio work stations to the masses, music can be produced for very little cost. You see social music networking sites like myspace, soundclick with MILLIONS of artist all with their own beats and songs produced at home. The competition is greater now then 10 years ago.

The law of economy states that with greater competition comes a reduction in price. So you only have to look at the younger generation download from the internet to realise that Music Recordings can be acquired for ZERO dollars. Their is virtually no way incentive for people to pay for downloads.

Free vs $0.99

Music isn't a career anymore, however, exploiting music to sell other products is a very lucritive way to amass WEALTH. eg. MP3 player, Radio Station, Lawyers, Hi-FI systems, Microphones, Recording Equipment.
